Rose Kennedy

A lifelong resident of southeastern North Carolina, Rose Kennedy previously worked as a graphic designer. She also worked for 18 years with an art publisher/licensing agency creating water color/mixed media paintings in the juvenile genre. These images were sold nationally as prints and licensed for use on consumer products.

Rose now creates original oil paintings and teaches in her home studio and at Cape Fear Studios in Fayetteville, NC. Her style is painterly, with visible brushstrokes and harmonious hues that convey a sense of warmth and serenity. Detail is implied rather than described, allowing the viewer opportunity to engage with and interpret the painting on a personal level. Her work has been juried into international, national and regional competitions, garnering awards along the way. Rose enjoys painting “en plein air” and has been chosen to participate in a number of juried and invitational events over the past several years.

In addition to painting, she enjoys teaching others through workshops and private lessons. A career in the arts seemed inevitable from an early age, as I have always had a love for drawing and painting. Strong ties to the natural world, commercial art experience and fine art study combine, contributing to my pursuit of creating and sharing the connection we all have to earth, water and sky. I have passionately worked on my painting skills, seeking the ability to portray more than just a pretty scene, but also an allure that draws one into the creation. I enjoy creating original oil paintings in the studio and outdoors. My style is painterly, with expressive marks and harmonious hues that convey a sense of warmth and serenity. Detail is implied rather than described, allowing the viewer opportunity to linger and engage with the painting on a personal level. My objective is to create a visual orchestration that has its’ own voice, speaking a lyrical narrative that leads into and invites exploration, with a sense of mood and presence. My work has an artistic quality that bears my signature, figuratively speaking, through each brushstroke.

"I have come to believe that the reason why life has become so crazy is because we have become so disconnected… from society, from the planet, from ourselves. We have become a society of droids using machines to navigate through our daily routines rather than using our senses. With my work I strive to recreate the sensations one feels when there is a connection.” - Rose Kennedy
