Lyudmila Tomova Clark, an internationally recognized, award-winning artist known for her expressive impressionist style. Dividing her time between Cary, NC, and Almond, WI, Lyudmila masterfully captures figurative, portrait, and plein air subjects in both oil and watercolor.
The years 2023 and 2024 marked a significant milestone in her career, with over 40 awards in national and international juried exhibitions—16 of them First Place honors—a testament to her exceptional talent and creative consistency.
Lyudmila’s work draws deeply from the energy of nature and the rhythms of both urban and rural life. She has earned recognition at many of the country’s most prestigious plein air events, including Easton, Cape Ann, Telluride, Paint Grand Traverse, Lighthouse, and Bluff Strokes, among others. Her paintings resonate with a distinctive blend of realism and abstraction, fusing mood and movement in a uniquely lyrical visual language.
A graduate with highest honors from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and the Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, Lyudmila bridges classical training with a contemporary sensibility. Since immigrating to the U.S. in 1990, she has enjoyed a dynamic career as a painter, illustrator, and designer, with her work featured in major publications such as PleinAir, The Art of Watercolour, International Artist, Watercolor Artist, and Splash books by North Light.
As a Signature Member of the Watercolor Societies of North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Southern, and Southwestern, she continues to contribute to the broader art community through workshops and mentorship nationwide.
Her work is a vibrant addition to our gallery, and we invite collectors to experience her remarkable vision in person.
