Suzie Hallier began studying art by working alongside her father, world-renown sculptor Richard Hallier and continued to pursue art throughout her life in her studies and as a vocation. Suzie holds a BFA in Studio Art from UNC Asheville.
Throughout her artistic career, Suzie has enjoyed success in a variety of mediums. She began as a printmaker and has worked extensively with mixed media and collage. She has authored and illustrated several children’s books. Over the past twenty years, Suzie has focused her artistic expression on primarily utilizing the medium of oil on canvas.
In 2012, however, she came back to the art form that her family is most known for – sculpture. Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC welcomed the first of Suzie’s bronze sculpture, a competition swimmer jumping off of the starting platform, in October 2012. Since then, she has continued to sculpt and paint at her home in Banner Elk, NC. Her most recent sculpture can be seen on King Street in Boone, NC, The Watauga County Veterans' Memorial.
