"I was born in Charlotte, North Carolina where I live and have my winter studio. My summer studio is in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.Throughout my formal education I studied fine art, both in class and with private lessons and workshops. After marriage and a stint in the Army Ibegan work as a commercial artist working for several engraving companies in package design. I continued my artistic development studying under Philip Moose who was a professor at Queens College and through various classes and workshops. In 1980 I decided to go into art full time. I opened Snyder Gallery in Charlotte. I found that the art business was so consuming that I had less time for production of my own art. It became a business of running a business. During those years I developed a strong interest in painting in oils. As my technique developed, my portfolio of works became more naturalistic. In recent years I have taken many workshops in “plein aire” under the instruction of renown southern artist William Jameson, and in studio painting under Andy Braitman,
Through my artwork I strive to capture an image in its natural and enduring state, an image that reflects the natural beauty of shape and color, and an image of strength and calm that is enduring to the viewer."
