Annie B. Campbell currently resides in Western NC and works as a professional painter. Graduating from Appalachian State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, Annie concentrated her studies in painting and sculpture where she found an interest in creating forms in the round through steel fabrication and metalwork. Campbell’s work after college turned away from sculpture and back to painting, where she dabbled in acrylics and mixed media, until discovering the cold wax and oil technique used by Mark Rothko and Richard Diebenkorn. Campbell had always been attracted to the sculptural quality of paint and the beauty of the abstracted figure. In her studies, Annie stumbled upon the work of Pat Pilkington after visiting the Banner Elk restaurant, Artisanal in 2010. This led to studying and perfecting the cold wax and oil medium inspired by the style of well-known Raymond Chorneau. Her passion for painting animals has translated into a simplified abstraction of animal forms mixed with the abstracted human form and a soft palette. Campbell joined Blowing Rock Frameworks & Gallery in 2018.
